THE PERSON & THE PURPOSE

Finance, plainly explained.
Meet TROUGH.

TROUGH is a personal finance website created by Abhishek Singh, bringing together articles, calculators and stock market learning for people building their understanding of money.

I wanted to understand money. Then I wanted to help people understand theirs.

I’m Abhishek Singh, the person behind TROUGH. As a commerce student, I was always drawn to money and economics: how financial decisions shape our lives, and how we can make those decisions more thoughtfully.

In 2024, I completed my BIM (B.Com in Investment and Management). That July, I began my career at a wealth management firm, starting as a trainee and progressing to a financial consultant. Working in finance deepened my curiosity. Learning became about more than exams—it became about understanding the choices people make with their savings, investments and future.

Along the way, I cleared NISM Series V and began an MBA in Finance at NMIMS in 2025. The more I learned, the more I wanted to explore—and explain.

A comfortable career gave me a choice. I chose to build.

I could see a path towards another role and a bigger salary. But I kept coming back to something I wanted to create myself: a business centred on helping people understand and plan their money.

That ambition led to TROUGH. Today, it brings together plain-language articles, financial calculators and a place to ask questions. My aim is to help readers understand the assumptions, weigh the trade-offs and ask better questions about their own money.

I’m still learning, still building, and sharing that journey here.

Why the name TROUGH?

The name comes from the low point in a cycle. TROUGH uses that idea as a starting point for learning: when money feels difficult to understand, a little clarity can help you work out your next question.
